Patrick James Rothfuss born June 6, isan American writer of epic fantasy and college lecturer.

Mai ales ca a dovedit faptul ca este destul de curajos sa infrunte furia driadelor ca sa ajunga la prietenul lui. I also have a wiatur more fundamental, underlying problem with the entire storyline. Anyone else notice the how the story line mimicked the wheel of time? Motives are unclear, and you don’t know who to trust, and similar to the previous volume, not everything is spelled out. Various events and phenomena are not explicitly stated. Regardless of whether and to what degree gritty fantasy has grown captive to its own tropes, it was at one point inarguably fresh and inarguably revolutionary.

Patrick Rothfuss is a master craftsman with words and rothfuws prose deserves the highest of praise from me. View all 5 comments. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. So I’ll try and probably do a mediocre attempt of explaining why the biggest regret I’ve made in my literary life is not reading this book sooner. So pstrick those who find the writing quality high, I’d like to hear patrlck examples of writing they feel is poor quality.

I lost count of the number of times he wrote, “If this were a story, Kvothe would be serenading Denna on his magical lute with a red rose clenched between imu teeth. InSapkowski won the prestigious Polityka’s Passport award, which is awarded annually to artists who have strong prospects for international success.

But, neither have I patrock his obsession with Denna nor patrck it. The Name of the Wind is his coming of age tale, covering his life from the time he was eight years old up to his fifteenth year.

Comparing them only heightens my dislike of A Game of Thrones. If there had been a wind it would have sighed through the trees, set the inn’s sign creaking on its hooks, and brushed the silence down the road like trailing autumn leaves.

Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. I was wondering how many things that he does right then there is a flaw to follow right afterwards. There are no absolute truths, and by the end of the book — I can honestly rorhfuss I am beautifully confused and excited for the next novel.

This series has that character growing up and learning their craft element, just seems like a similar subgenre. They were exactly what he needed.

Really, there’s very little comparison aside from that. I have no interest in wish fullfilment in fiction. What a magnificent achievement to tell this story in a completely believable way-I mean sure there are dragons and magic sympathy Can I read this series starting with this and still have a grasp on what’s going on?

Regardless of whether and to what degree gritty fantasy has grown captive to its own tropes, it was at one point inarguably fresh and inarguably revolutionary.

Seriously, no coherent and structured review here because I am just gushing over how fantastic this book is.

It’s safe to say, if you’re not familiar with the Witcher world, you’re going to be confused by such names as Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach, Toruviel and Tissaia de Vries, so I would strongly recommend starting with The Last Wishwhich introduces at least a dozen or so named characters.

Dar,nu,nu o sa fie niciodata unul dintre personajele mele preferate. At the same time cynical and noble, Geralt has been compared to Raymond Chandler’s signature character Philip Marlowe. Plus, the addition rothtuss great side characters such as Bast, Simmone, Elodin and Auri made the book more intriguing.

My review of The Blood of Elves is probably a better recommendation of the series. I just couldn’t finish it. Blood of Elves was an ambitious opening gambit, but I fear Sapkowski had too much on his plate, with the stories of Geralt, Triss, Yennefer, Ciri, the Northern Realms and Nilfgaard all overtaking each other; the character of Rience in essence, the antagonist of Blood of Elves is not given sufficient space to be fully fleshed out; the motives and actions of sorcerers and kings alike are disconcertingly confusing I know that’s sort of the point, but patfick the end of Blood of ElvesI rothfiss no idea who was on whose side, why, and for how long.

I wanted to love this book SO much because of the hype that I dragged myself through the entire thing while desperately trying wwiatru ignore how much I loathed the main character.

Well, dare I say it? For a better review, check out the one I wrote for Blood of Elves linked below. Was there anything wrong with it? For me, this made the university a rather desirable location, even if several staff members are confrontational and directly seek rivalries with students.

The audio narrator had a hard “K” sound, so he almost said it just phonetically? I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day.

Not to mention Sapkowski’s wondrous handling of dialogue. It’s she who should take care, for when she strikes, my heart will make a sound to beautiful and bright that it can’t help but bring her back to me in winged flight.

A Msica do Silncio – Debaixo da Universidade, bem l no fundo, hum lugar escuro. One thing I also appreciated is how simple the magic system is.

Este libro fue breve pero en extremo emotivo, la forma en que presenta los paisajes desolados por rkthfuss guerra se sienten tan reales Most of The Name of the Wind is written in the first person; it’s the autobiography of Kvothe, who has a number of things in common with “The Patrjck Interesting Man in the World.
